Perfect … Wait, that’s not the right word
Perfectionism isn’t innate, it’s taught — right alongside math, English and history. Perfectionist ideals are constantly perpetuated and reinforced by schools’ reward systems, and students are suffering the consequences. Their lives have come to revolve around a single letter, A-F, and as a result, their self-esteem has taken a hit. By telling her own story, and reflecting on the system itself, Viscarello hopes to provide insight into the ways we can take ownership of our parts in the cycle, and make real, lasting change.
