Self-Care: A Gateway to Freedom

Going into junior year of high school, Elijah experienced burnout, which manifested in a lack of self-care. This experience pushed him to talk to a high school counselor, who advised him to take a day of self-care. Even though he was physically recharged after his self-care day, mentally, he was drained. This, however, had an interesting effect: Being drained of his energy allowed him to see what was wrong and what he needed. In his TEDx Talk, Elijah Brooks explains that what he needed was freedom. This led him to learn about the life and work of Viktor Frankl, a Holocaust survivor, psychiatrist and neurologist, which guided Elijah through the process of discovering what freedom truly is. The answer may surprise you.
